A menu based on Japanese techniques with ingredients from all over the world.
Umami is derived from the Japanese word “umai” meaning “delicious”. It is the fifth basic taste sensation alongside sweet, sour, bitter and salty. Our menu is filled with notes of rich umami from our a la carte, to the grills and chef’s specials.

Fabulous food and good service. We absolutely loved the aubergine and miso nigiri! Really selection of vegetarian and pescatarian options. Wide selection of vegetarian options. Clearly labelled and everything we had was delicious.

Booked at the bar on a Friday night – as all other tables were already booked – great sign in my opinion. Glad we did as we got to see some of the specialities made in front of us. Salmon set – fresh and high quality. Spicy tuna rolls delicious. Beef carpaccio – super tasty. Actually couldn’t fault the food. Great to have food of this quality so close in East Finchley. The Ox cheek dumpling special was our favourite, the vegetables brilliant and the sushi next level. The hospitality was warm and family friendly. We will be coming again to explore the menu further.
